Values and vision

At Sentinel homecare, our values are:

Safety – helping people live safely
Integrity – honesty/doing what is right
Quality – going above and beyond required standards
Dignity and respect – always understanding and never being judgmental
Empowerment – helping people do things for themselves
Confidentiality – respecting people’s privacy
Equality – treating everyone fairly
Diversity – supporting people from all backgrounds
Social responsibility – looking after the communities we work in
Continuous improvement – always adapting our service to the needs of the people we support

Support packages will be personal to everyone. We ask people what is important to them and plan our service around this. This means we support people to live safely in their chosen environment and independently with their chosen lifestyle.

Who we support/skills

We support people of all ages with a wide range of needs, from people who need some extra support at home through to people who are non-verbal, for example.

Our skills include listening to people to understand what matters to them and what they want to achieve and speaking to them to plan their journey to independence. This will include how they want to be supported in how to set and achieve their goals.

As well as having the right skills, support workers can be chosen based on personality. Everyone will be invited to meet support workers and choose who will support them. We will also work with our partnerships in the community to help people join clubs/groups to pursue their hobbies/interests.

Experience

Since 2008, we have worked with Bradford City Council to provide supported living services to people living in the Bradford region. We are a highly experienced provider, with a proven track record of supporting people with learning disabilities (Mental Health, Autism, Neurodiversity, Physical disabilities/sensory impairments) gain independence and achieve their outcomes.

Strengths

Emphasis on safety – safety is our number one priority. We will make sure everyone is safeguarded and health and safety is at the forefront of every stage of support. Service users can be assured of this thanks to the high-level training that all our staff receive.

Working in a person-centred way – all our support is based on what support each person needs. For example, if somebody’s hobby is football, we will help them to find a local team that suits their needs.

Ability to adapt/Innovation – we will continuously adapt our service to help people meet their specific outcomes, such as using new technology like Alexa or installing dimmer switches to help a client who had ADHD, plan there day, and gain there independence back. We always look out for new and innovative ways to help service users achieve their outcomes.

Responsiveness – we constantly monitor our service and build extra time into schedules to meet the needs of every person, every day, within the timeframes they chose.

Partnership approach – as a proudly Bradford-based company, we already have excellent links with partners, e.g. Bradford College/Jobcentre, as well as health/social care professionals throughout the city, to help provide education/employment opportunities.

Evaluating impact and continuously improving – the hopes and dreams of each individual are at the centre of all our service packages. Every week, support workers will sit down with service users and talk about what has been achieved in line with their individual outcomes, and suggest steps to help them on their journey.
